Nigerian Women Hostages Rescued from Boko Haram
May 4, 2014

Boko Haram, the Islamic State terrorist group, has been causing problems in Nigeria for quite some time now. Movements have been made by Nigerian troops to take back some of the land the terrorist group stole. About 300 women were rescued from the terrorists, who had been and possibly still are hiding out in the Sambisa forest. It was reported that more than 700 people have been rescued in the past week or so. Some of the women about to be rescued were stoned to death as the military was approaching. The rescued women spoke of their captivity, and how they were highly monitered by the group. They were fed one meal a day, and every day one of the women was killed as they were forced to watch. Children and women who were rescued were extremely malnourished, especially children. They are all being seen in a clinic. The school girls that were captured were not among the women rescued.

Dinosaur Eggs Found in China
April 22, 2015

While doing road construction in Hong Kong, China, dinosaur eggs were discovered! The city already has a large collection of eggs, and is proud to announce that they are adding to the collection.
They even call themselves the "Home of Dinosaurs", since winning a Guinness World Record for the world's largest collection of dinosaur eggs in 2004. The eggs were underneath a busy city street. A total of 43 were found, and 19 of them were completely intact. The eggs are considerably big, with a 5 inch diameter. Researchers are working and examining them to try and figure out what species they belonged to. Some of the eggs they have in the collection belonged to dinosaurs that roamed around 89 million years ago.

Kansas Governor Signs Bill Making Second Term Abortion Illegal
April 8, 2015

Republican Governor of Kansas, Sam Brownback, signed a law into effect on Tuesday that bans all second term abortions. People in support of Brownback's decision are ecstatic, claiming that it was a "groundbreaking step". The governor says that second term abortions are "knowingly dismembering a living unborn child." The law doesn't exactly state the time when a women can't get an abortion anymore, but it says that the dilate and evacuate procedure is now prohibited in Kansas. People in opposition to the law, such as Planned Parenthood, say that the law is "extreme political measures aimed at denying women access to health care and at undermining their decision-making ability." Obviously, the debate about abortion will continue to swing back and forth, but for now Kansas has taken a major step in the conflict.

Bowe Bergdahl Possibly Facing a Life Sentence in Military Prison
March 26, 2015

Bowe Bergdahl is a sargeant for the U.S. Army. In 2009, he was captured by the Taliban and kept for five years in captivity. He was treated brutally. He describes that he was chained to beds, and kept in a cage for extensive periods of time. He was also beaten and forced to watch Taliban videos. He didn’t have any idea where he was, and had no conception of time. Fortunately though, he has been brought back to Texas, and has been an inpatient in a military hospital. He is now on outpatient. We traded five prisoners that had Taliban-relations for Bergdahl. But there is still some murky water with the whole deal. First, Obama didn’t tell Congress about the prisoner swap, and which he technically “broke the law”. Also, Bergdahl is not going to have it all easy being home. The military is charging him with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. Supposedly he abandoned his post in 2009 when he was in Afghanistan. He just disappeared from his unit, and let his fellow soldiers down. There is some speculation on whether or not he had enemy relations, but for now, all we know is that he is possibly facing a life sentence in military prison and will be stripped of his rank in the army.

Boston Bomber Found Guilty in Court
Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Boston Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has finally admitted to the horrific attack on the Boston Marathon. His attorney, Judy Clarke, spoke in an opening statement claiming, "It was him." Nearly two years ago, he was the man who placed the bombs near the finish line of the race, killing 3 people and causing at least 200 injuries, some people losing limbs. He got away initially after jacking an SUV, and was found later hiding in a boat in someone's backyard. His brother, and accomplice, died in a shootout with police officers when Dzhokhar got away. The trial though, is over why him and his brother did this. Dzhokhar is also on trial with 30 charges related to the bombing. Although it is a little unclear why he did this, he claimed himself as self-radicalized and claimed the "U.S. government is an enemy of Islam."(CNN) He also read magazines from al-Queda, and enjoyed listening to jihad songs and/or lectures. But there is also a dispute over why the jury was middle-aged white men. Well his attorneys concluded that they are the most likely to support the death penalty, which they are trying to avoid Dzhokhar from getting. Overall, Tsarnaev concluded that "We Muslims are one body. You hurt one, you hurt us all."

Teens Start a Riot at Movie Theater, and Rob Gas Station
February 16,2015

In Ocoee, Florida on Valentines Day, hundreds of high schoolers stormed a local movie theater at West Oaks mall. It started with a couple hundred kids running into the place, making a lot of noise and causing a big disturbance. They were trying to start a bunch of fights with each other. Then a couple hundred more of them were gathering outside in the parking lot, and some were even armed with guns, firing them in the air. They were robbing people and trying to steal cars. Then some headed to a gas station close by, where they just ran inside and starting stealing anything they could grab. The owner tried to stop them, but they would just try to start a fight. Police finally showed up to try to stop all of them, and it resulted with two kids getting arrested.
